I think he should visit Fiordland National Park, the largest national park in New Zealand, and home to some of the world’s largest waterfalls. I would like to visit Doubtful Sound, which contains two separate layers of water: several feet of fresh water above saltwater.

Fiordland is also the home of the kiwi bird. The Kiwi is the national symbol of New Zealand, and its currency is sometimes called a “kiwi dollar.”

10,000 People for Man vs. Wild Fiordland 2010

The only group I ever joined on Facebook is 10,000 People for Man vs. Wild Fiordland 2010. They reached their goal of 10,000 members, trying to convince Bear Grylls to film an episode of Man vs. Wild in Fiordland.

Unfortunately, Bear Grylls will not film Man vs. Wild in New Zealand in 2010. Liz Healy, Director of Global Communications for Discovery Channel said:

We are considering your part of the world for upcoming seasons

Bear Grylls is currently filming Worst Case Scenario in Los Angeles.

Man vs Wild Video Game

Discovery Channel has selected Crave Entertainment to turn Man vs. Wild into a video game. There should be versions for PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS and Xbox 360 available by the end of 2011.

Players will control a character under the guidance of Bear Grylls.

Bear Grylls Promotes Alpha Course

Bear Grylls visited Tomoka Correctional Institution in Daytona Beach, which houses 1263 male inmates on October 22, 2009. Grylls introduced inmates to Alpha Course a free ten week course about Christianity, developed at Holy Trinity Brompton Church, an Anglican church in London.

Grylls also made two appearances at 2009 National Alpha Conference to promote this course.

It is nice to see Grylls endorsing a non-commercial product he believes in.

Grylls Has Third Best Job in World

A poll by Shell and Auto Express concluded that Jeremy Clarkson, who drives fast cars on UK TV Show Top Gear, has the best job in the world. Nigella Lawson, known as Queen of Food Porn was second, and Bear Grylls finished third.

I was surprised that Queen Elizabeth finished sixth, because I think that she has the best job.

Bear Grylls opens the season in Northern Norway, where he:

“tackles a frozen waterfall, hunts wild reindeer and battles against some of the coldest conditions on the planet”

Grylls described filming in the Arctic, back in April, saying:

“It is a tough environment in minus 20 always and Norway really stretched me — more than I anticipated.”

Wouldn’t it be great to ask Bear Grylls about Norway in person?

The production team flew me back to the UK but what concerns me is the lack of feeling in the end of the finger now. I also sliced off the tip of another finger which bled like nobody’s business, but the raw flesh is covering up now slowly. Dank, damp jungle conditions are bad for such injuries, trust me!

Grylls is recuperating, waiting for the feeling in his finger to return. He said:

Anyway, hopefully the nerve damage will repair and I can get back onto the next show, God willing. But I do feel a bit battered generally. Jungle episodes are always intense.

I became curious after Bear Grylls said that the British Army uses Belize to train its troops for jungle warfare. So I searched, and found a fascinating video of British troops training in Belize — in the air, on land, and wading across a river.

The 600 troops of the First Battalion, who are on maneuvers in the jungles of Belize now, will be deployed soon in Afghanistan. I hope they all return home safely from the latest war.

Do You Want To Go Caving?

Belize, is located on the northeastern coast of Central America. (see map) Belize is best known for its thousands of caves. The largest cave in Belize, is Cebeda, which spans 25 miles. Cebeda, was discovered in 1989, and is currently the largest cave in Central America. Cebeda is located in the Chiquibul Forest Reserve, one of the largest remaining rainforests in Central America.

Some of us will be able to see Bear Grylls in one of these caves on Monday. Read on.

Americans will be able to stop watching Bear Grylls reruns on Monday at 10 P.M. when the new season of Man vs. Wild begins on the Discovery Channel.

Please note that Man vs. Wild will be shown on Mondays at 10 P.M. this season. In case you miss it, new episodes will also be shown at 2 A.M. for everyone’s convenience.

I recommend Discovery’s excellent email reminder service. You will never receive unwanted email using this service, because you can only request a reminder, for one specific broadcast. Reminders include a brief description of the episode — this is Discovery’s description of Bear Grylls in Belize:

“Bear Grylls is in the jungles of Belize where he plays Tarzan in the trees, comes face to face with a 9ft boa constrictor and is left hanging by his fingertips over a raging white-water river.”

It sounds remarkable, even though Discovery does not mention a cave!

What Happened To Born Survivor?

I was unable to find out when this episode will be shown in UK. Searches for Born Survivor Belize and Bear Grylls Belize on UK’s Channel 4 produced no results.

I was also unable to find a schedule on the official Born Survivor site.

This Will Be the Final Season of Man vs. Wild

I believe that this will be the last season of Man vs. Wild.

First of all, Bear Grylls is still recuperating from a painful injury. Bear Grylls is also 34 years old, and his wife is expecting their third child.

I anticipate the first Man vs. Wild movie in 2010. Bear Grylls is mortal, and it is time for him to minimize his risks.

Cheer up, because Discovery Channel wants to help!
