Sarah Palin resigns as Governor of Alaska with 17 months left in her term

Sarah Palin resigned on Sunday, with a speech that made as much sense as her reasons for resigning.

In my opinion, she quit because her approval rating dropped from 93% in June 2007, to 56% in July 2009. Palin has also incurred $500,000 in legal fees defending herself from about 20 lawsuits, claiming ethics violations.

Indeed, Palin’s first statement complained that:

“Political operatives descended on Alaska last August, digging for dirt. The ethics law I championed became their weapon of choice.”

Mike Huckabee commented on her critics, and lawsuits, saying:

“Well, if that had been the case for me, I’d have quit about my first month, because I was a Republican governor in a state where 89 percent of my legislature were Democrats”

The Lamest Excuse

Although she had 17 months left to serve, Palin claimed that she did not want to be a “lame duck” saying:

“And so as I thought about this announcement that I wouldn’t run for re-election and what it means for Alaska, I thought about how much fun some governors have as lame ducks… travel around the state, to the Lower 48 (maybe), overseas on international trade – as so many politicians do. And then I thought – that’s what’s wrong – many just accept that lame duck status, hit the road, draw the paycheck, and “milk it.” I’m not putting Alaska through that – I promised efficiencies and effectiveness! That’s not how I am wired. I am not wired to operate under the same old “politics as usual.” I promised that four years ago – and I meant it.”

If that was true, Presidents would not bother running for a second term.

Palin’s Farewell Speech

Sarah Palin’s farewell address was bizarre. How can anyone believe:

“when I took the oath to serve you, I promised…remember I promised to steadfastly and doggedly guard the interests of this great state like that grizzly guards her cubs, as a mother naturally guards her own.”

She seems to have forgotten that she took an oath to serve a full term!

Jim David of Huffington Post commented:

“Her farewell speech should be required viewing in political science classes until the end of time, so that students can see the ultimate example of style over substance and form over content. Viewing this speech should be accompanied by Dan Quayle’s “Murphy Brown” speech and Bill Clinton’s “I did not have sex with that woman” speech.

Mr. David succinctly summed up Palin, saying:

“the truth is, she is quitting because she has one of the thinnest skins and smallest minds ever to hold office”

Shatner Says It Best

78 year old William Shatner, who enjoys reciting poetry, did a great job turning Palin’s speech into poetry on The Tonight Show.

Carl Cameron, Chief Political Correspondent for FOX TV, had more Sarah Palin idiocy on last night’s O’Reilly Factor, which is the most–watched program on cable news.

I was stunned to learn that Governor Palin thought Africa was a country, not a continent.

Cameron said, “some people in the McCain campaign thought that the selection of Sarah Palin was risky.” What kind of job interview did she have?

Watch the interview here.
More Palinisms

I enjoy writing about idiots, so here a few Palin videos. Cameron said that Palin chose not to prepare for her interview with Katie Couric, and it really shows.

Convicted felon, Senator Ted Stevens, refuses to resign. Does Sarah Palin support him?

Senator Ted Stevens <samp>(R-AK)</samp>, best known for financing “the bridge to nowhere”, and describing the Internet as, “not a big truck, but a series of tubes”, was found guilty of corruption last week.

But despite his seven felony convictions, Stevens appears to have been re–elected, with 96% of the votes counted. And just like Larry Craig <samp>(R-UT)</samp>, Stevens does not want to resign.

However, Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid <samp>(D-NV)</samp> said:

“a convicted felon is not going to be able to serve in the United States Senate. And as precedent shows us, Senator Stevens will face an ethics committee investigation and expulsion, regardless of his appeals process”

Palin’s Pick?

When Sarah Palin was asked whether she voted for Stevens, she said:

“I am also exercising my right to privacy and I don’t have to tell anybody who I vote for. Nobody does, and that’s really cool about America also.”

It was a simple choice.

McCain wants to start wars, and Obama wants to end them.

I never want to hear Sarah Palin say, “Drill Baby, Drill!” again.

Thomas Jefferson said, “Freedoms which have been lost, are not easily regained.” However, if Americans continue to vote, in record turnouts like last night, we can at least hope for some honest leaders, who will keep our remaining freedoms intact.

Sarah Palin proved to be amazingly gullible today. during a six minute telephone conversation with two Canadian disc jockeys, who convinced her that she was speaking to Nicolas Sarkozy, the President of France.

Sébastien Trudel and Marc-Antoine Audette, are the Masked Avengers or Les Justiciers Masqués on CKOI-FM, a French Radio station in Quebec.

Audette, who pretended to be President Sarkozy, discussed sex with his beautiful wife, then told Palin how much he loved hunting and killing animals. So Palin invited him to join her on a hunting trip.

I thought it was over when he said that the difference between them was that, “my ass is facing Belgium,” — but Palin never caught on. She also missed his gibberish French.

Palin was even fooled when Audette identified singer Stef Carse as the Candian Prime Minister.

Listen to this truly idiotic conversation at:

Opinions of Joseph Biden and Sarah Palin

This, the third item on my list is also easy. No – not easy, but straightforward. Which describes Girardi situation too.

Why Biden?

I used to find news depressing, now it is just confusing. Consider this:

During an English class at Kingsborough Community College, a student was caught plagiarizing a magazine article, and forced to repeat the course. I remember the incident, because our teacher was outraged, and discussed plagiarism for next two classes.

I also remember this, because Senator Joseph Biden, took up an entire class. You can learn more about Biden’s plagiarism at Wikipedia and Famous Plagiarists.

If Biden was forced to withdraw from 1988 Presidential race because of plagiarism — why is he running again?

Sarah Palin Makes Sense

My image of Republicans, is Senator Larry Craig and friends, complaining about abortions, and advocating teen abstinence. So I can understand why John McCain would want a woman, especially with Hillary Clinton out of the race.

Sarah Palin was a great choice! She is against:

abortion

teaching sex education in schools

protecting ANWR from oil drillers

listing polar bears as a species threatened by global warming

Incidentally, she has nothing against polar bears: she simply does not believe that global warming was caused by people. From a recent interview:

Q

What is your take on global warming and how is it affecting our country?

A

A changing environment will affect Alaska more than any other state, because of our location. I’m not one though who would attribute it to being man–made.
