Cyclovia Tampa : Bicycles Take Over Downtown Tampa

Tampa is a great place to ride a bicycle. I am glad I moved to South Tampa. I enjoy riding around Gadsden Lake, Bayshore Boulevard, Davis Islands.

I will be riding around downtown Tampa on Sunday, at Cyclovia.

Cyclovia is based on “ciclovia,” Spanish for “cycle way”. Ciclovia started in Bogota, Colombia. It was copied by many cities. Streets are closed on Sundays for bicycles and activities.

Kennedy Boulevard will be closed from Nebraska Avenue to Tampa Street, on Sunday October 19, 2014 from 9 A.M. to 2 P.M.

From South Tampa, take Bayshore Boulevard to Platt Street. Ride over the bridge and make a left on Franklin Street to Kennedy. If you want to drive, Sunday parking is free on Kennedy Boulevard. A group of riders is leaving from the Buddy Brew at 2020 West Kennedy Boulevard at 10 A.M.

Find other groups, a map of facilities and more info at cycloviatampabay.com

Among the events are “slow bike races” at 12:50 and 1:50.

I am looking to watching my first “slow bike race.“ Last rider wins. Andy Lakatosh won a slow race, by not moving for 3 minutes.

Bring a lock to attend non-riding events like “DanceWalk! – Do the Local Motion.” Looking forward to seeing Kennedy Boulevard filled with Zumba classes, riders, dancers, walkers.

See you at Cyclovia!
