Quick Mail 3.4.3 for WordPress

Quick Mail 3.4.4 was released on May 17, 2018

Welcome to Quick Mail.

I created the Quick Mail WordPress plugin in 2014, to send a quick email with an attachment from the WordPress dashboard.

Quick Mail has evolved. Use it to reply to comments privately and send email with an attachment from the command line with WP-CLI.

Does email sent from your WordPress blog get marked as spam? You can use Quick Mail with Mailgun, Sendgrid or SparkPost to send reliable email.

The latest version of Quick Mail fixes one error.

Email Address Validation

Quick Mail tries to validate email addresses with checkdnsrr to learn if the recipient’s domain had an MX Record. An MX record tells senders how to send email to a domain.

If email address validation is enabled, and a user tries to send email to a domain without an MX record, Quick Mail displays an “Invalid Email Address” error.

Quick Mail’s email address validation is great for catching typos, not perfect at validating an email addresse’s domain.

Previous versions of Quick Mail tried to strip a host name from an address, before validation.

Unfortunately, this also messed up valid domains. For example, ”example.com.br“ became ”com.br“ — and always failed.

Quick Mail 3.4.3 tests the entire value after the ‘@’ in the name.

GDPR Disclaimer

Quick Mail asks for permission to use your email address and save addresses.

I added privacy options to Quick Mail 3.2.8 for the upcoming GDPRGeneral Data Protection Requirement.

However, WordPress plugins cannot ”create, provide, automate, or guarantee legal compliance.“

Quick Mail now offers:

Privacy options to help comply with General Data Protection Regulation

WordPress 4.9.6 will remind users to create a privacy policy, or use their existing privacy policy.

Many other GDPR changes are coming to WordPress.
