Quick Mail 3.5.5 Maintenance Release

Discover the latest version of Quick Mail.

Quick Mail 3.5.5 was released today.

My Quick Mail WordPress plugin sends email with attachments from the WP Dashboard, or from the command line with WP-CLI.

I created the Quick Mail WordPress plugin in 2014, to send an email with an attachment from the WordPress dashboard, without opening another application or Web page.

Quick Mail users can select email recipients from WordPress site users or commenters.

Have you ever wanted to answer a comment privately, and include an attachment in your reply? Do it with Quick Mail :)

Does email sent from your WordPress blog get marked as spam? Use Quick Mail with Mailgun, Sendgrid or SparkPost to send reliable email.

Quick Mail 3.5.5 is the 41st update. I changed one feature and fixed two bugs.

Fixed Missing Translation

Holy Tower of Babel Batman! Quick Mail was missing a translation for “Duplicate“ on a form processing function, called from JavaScript.

Nobody reported this semi-egregious error. Therefore, non-English Quick Mail users never entered a duplicate address. Fascinating!

Less Email Address Validation

I tested my “Duplicate Email Address Fix“ by pasting a bunch of invalid and duplicate email addresses into input fields.

What Is a Valid Email Address?

It is nearly impossible to validate every email address.

Dominic Sayers wrote is_email, a complicated PHP email validation system. Mr. Sayers’s answer:

There’s only one real answer to this: a valid email address is one that you can send emails to.

There is even a Node package to validate email addresses.

Frankly, I do not understand some of the lengthy email validation functions found on the Web. How do I know they work on every email address?

Keeping It Simple

Quick Mail 3.5.5 checks for one amphora and one period. Although email addresses may contain more than one amphora or ‘@’ — I have never seen one in 30+ years of emailing.

Therefore, I am sticking to it. Please leave a support message if you have a problem.

Quick Mail 3.5.5 Formats Addresses

This is not a strict “Maintenance Release,” because I changed the way Quick Mail formats addresses.

If you paste a group of email addresses separated by a space or comma, into the “Recipient” field, Quick Mail will leave one recipient and move the other addresses to the “CC” field.

Please leave a support message if this causes a problem on your system.

Please Update Quick Mail

About 60% of Quick Mail users are running the latest version on their Web sites.

Every update fixes something. Please use the latest version.
